Milestone Two: PIOC Analysis Overview (Management Essay)

Essay Instructions:

6-1 Final Project: Milestone Two
Assignment
Task: Submit to complete this assignment
Submit Milestone Two, which is the second of two milestones for the final project in this course. For this milestone, you will complete Section III: People, Interests, Options, Criteria (PIOC) Analysis Overview and Section IV: Communication Strategies of the final project.
Milestone Two should incorporate your work from:
Module Four Small Group Discussion: Five Communication Strategy Recommendations
Module Four Discussion: ZOPA and BATNA for Alice Jones
Module Five Discussion: Proxemics
Module Five Assignment: Questions for the Negotiating Session
In your submission, you should recommend options that address both parties' distributive and integrative interests, using both overt and tacit communication prompts that could be used in the negotiation meeting by Sharon Slade.
Consider blind spots that Sharon Slade may have (but may not be aware of) and that Alice Jones may know. You will want to refer to our readings on the Johari window that address this issue. Be sure to address these potential blind spots when formulating the negotiating positions that you will recommend to Sharon Slade. Doing this will increase the likelihood of reaching an integrative, win-win negotiation outcome.
Before submitting your assignment, be sure to check it against the Milestone Two grading rubric, which is in the Milestone Two Guidelines and Rubric document. Refer to this document for more details about this assignment. Please include at least 2 refences

PIOC Analysis Overview
Opening Remarks
In her opening remarks, Sharon Slade should begin by welcoming Alice Jones to the meeting. She should be clear about why they are meeting and allow Jones to express her emotions. Slade should recognize the emotions but be careful not to allow them to cloud her judgment (Hak & Sanders, 2018). She can separate the people from the problem by showing open-mindedness. Open-mindedness illustrates that she is there to find solutions, rather than impose her decision on Jones.
Case-Specific Negotiating Positions
As a case-specific negotiating interest, re-assigning Jones to a different position/ department would ensure that her skills are utilized in a way that benefits the company and allows her to keep her job. For Slade, re-assigning Jones would ensure that the company retains a loyal employee. Alternatively, Jones can receive a 1-year severance package to allow her to look for another job. Slade can offer Jones a 6 months’ severance package and a recommendation letter.
Integrative Interests
Involved parties have to identify options to meet their respective interests (Spangler, 2003). The interest of the company is to have an employee who performs well and Jones's interest is to keep working for the company and utilize her skills. The parties can both win if the company identifies a position for Jones where her skills will be useful. This way, she will be able to perform well because her skills match her new position and the company will be able to hire a competent employee for Jones's current Position while still maintaining a loyal employee.
Objective Criteria
The company’s protocol on employee re-assignment can be used as objective criteria. Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation (2020) indicates that objective criteria allow the parties to solve their differences and reach an agreement. Using a company’s re-assignment protocol will ensure that both parties are on the same page on whether a re-assignment is possible or not.
