1 Identify and discuss the most significant operations and supply management approach since 1960.
The most significant operations and supply management approach are the Supply Chain Management. This is because of its capacity to influence all the factors in regards to the organizational process such as sourcing, procurement, logistics, and shipping. This kind of approach is essential in integrating, collaborating, and coordinating not only with the partners and stakeholders, but also with the buyer, who are all contributors to the success of the organization. Moreover, through this approach, the organization can promote the most advantageous control of the organization because the supply and demand were able to make it out for the duration of the entire supply route (Jacobs & Chase, 2011).

The stakeholders considered in a payoff analysis includes the customer, stockholders, employees, suppliers, and the community. The balanced scorecards are used in providing a measurement of performance for a stakeholder group that is customized to the control of both the senior management and branch-level management. Process dashboards are utilized to give a summary update on the performance of specific processes (Jacobs & Chase, 2011).

To accomplish total quality, four typical processes in manufacturing firms were identified. This includes group technology, statistical process control, zero defects, and continuous improvements. (Jacob &Chase, 2011). These processes dominated the manufacturing firms and are essential in managerial emphasis. The main idea presented in group technology is the overall manufacturing workflow wherein the distance of material handling is reduced, minimizes required handling through the elimination of unnecessary production steps, and emphasizes responsibility in the whole process in performing the selected task (Jacobs & Chase, 2011).
The new product development process is influenced by the size and the industry’s nature that it is operating. A new product is any product that the consumer perceived as unique. The process is initiated with idea generation. Many ideas concerning the product were discarded and modified before arriving at the success of the new product. There is a various process in new product development among the companies. Despite the differences, with the well-structured specifications and organizational goals, a successful new product will be produced by the firm(Jacobs & Chase, 2011).
