In this assignment you are tasked with writing a letter to the editor to the local newspaper. Letters to the editor (LTEs) are a great way to share ideas and mobilize people within a community. LTEs can be used to offer a unique perspective to issues facing the community. In this assignment, I am interested in how you can apply CED thinking to a current local problem or issue. You are best to focus on just one issue and demonstrate how CED can inform a response. Be specific; state your CED perspective and detail the response it informs. You may wish to draw from examples from other communities.
a) Identify a local issue currently being discussed in the community and/or is important to you. Research the topic thoroughly. Read what has already been written on the topic (especially in the local newspaper).
b) Identify a particular CED lens or set of principles to apply to the topic. See the CED toolbox features as a guide.
c) Write a LTE on the issue.
d) Use hyperlinks in your document to refer to or cite specific source information (newspaper articles, CED resources, academic literature, official documents, etc.).

Yes, more youths are graduating, but the skills they have do not particularly meet the needs of employers. In an article published by Aljazeera, it was also revealed that there is a mismatch between the skills and the jobs in the market.
