Management Essay: Japan: A Risk Profile

Essay Instructions:

Let’s say that you have been hired by the UN to help them with the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction. You are asked to prepare a Country Risk Profile for the country where your Case Study disaster occurred. To do this you will bring together information from a variety of sources. The Risk Profile is intended to give a picture of the vulnerabilities of that country in the present day, rather than at the time that your event occurred (if it is a historical event).
Click here to download the Country Risk Profile Assignment Preview the document. The detailed instructions are in the downloadable assignment. Here is some additional information about the INFORM Risk IndexPreview the document, which might be useful. If you go to the INFORM Index website (http://www(dot)inform-index(dot)org (Links to an external site.)) and click on "Countries" you should be able to find everything you need, but do explore the site, they have a lot of interesting stuff posted there.
Objectives
The objectives of the Country Risk Profile are for you to:
explore online sources of quantitative, qualitative, and historical data relevant to natural disaster management;
learn about the importance of open data sources and information-sharing in natural disaster management; and
synthesize various types of information in support of your Case Study analysis.
Please read the case study proposal in the file first. The case study topic I choose is Tohoku, Japan, 2011: I plan to examine the effect of hazard on the nuclear power plant disaster due to the earthquake and investigating the effectiveness of plans to prevent nuclear disasters in Japan in the future.
