Factors To Consider in Adopting Agile for A Specific Project
There are five critical factors to consider when adopting the Agile Project Management methodology in project management. Technology, organizational structure, leadership, teams, and culture are factors. The first factor, technology, alludes to any material or device that performs as a problem solver and is the primary viewpoint of organizations. Additionally, technology is a factor that aids in the functionality of the method employed and in making effective amendments where necessary (Goodpasture, 2010). In conjunction with other frameworks like Scrum, technology has become the most reliable system in aiding the Agile process due to expediting the processes’ accuracy.
The second factor is Organizational Structure. This factor centres around both the organizational and physical structure of an organization. A company's hierarchical structure, having numerous decision makers, could lead to arbitrations that may significantly dial back the progress of a project and the productivity of the teams inside an organization. A solid organizational structure will enhance the chances of proper and timely delivery and customer satisfaction (Kandha, 2018). The third factor is leadership in an organization. Companies need executives who lead by example and who help where needed. Good organizational leadership enhances its chances and empowers the executives to relegate money, teams, and time, leading to easy Agile process implementation. When the Agile methodology is implemented appropriately, the organization flourishes and gains continuous growth in all departments, enhancing collaboration amongst the teams and executives.
The fourth factor is an organization’s teams. All organizations comprise teams who enhance their progress, growth, and chance to flourish. For teams to have a cohesive work environment and work collectively, they should be in the exact physical location. Individuals will respond distinctively to proposed changes that may result in awkward circumstances and difficulties in some instances, thus leading to the necessity of having motivated, persuasive, and energetic professionals who will drive the Agile process to its success. The fifth factor is culture, the most powerful and influential factor to success. Despite culture being the most influential, it may be the most challenging factor to achieve because organizations require a very long time to foster an efficient and effective one. According to Kandha (2018), experts in organizations can tackle this issue by first analyzing the difficulties and designing proper responses to them.
