Every business entity dependent on the shared market percentage and the number of employees in the business has to evaluate its performance against other competitors effectively, and the business set goals and objectives. The business has to assess its performance to ensure that the set short and long term business goals and objectives are achieved in an economical manner, without compromising the quality of the goods or services being offered (Melnyk, Bititci, Platts, Tobias, & Andersen, 2014). The business has to carefully integrate the key elements that solely focus on the performance in all the levels of the organization, so to achieve the mission for the continuous improvement and growth of the business.
The measurement of performance of the business should focus on the employees who are the sole drivers in the achievement of the organizational goals. The set goals and mission of the organization should be achievable and realistic, so that the employees have the morale to work towards achieving the objectives. The performance measurement helps in the development of a culture of accountability among the workers. The process should encompass the set expectations, invite commitment, measure progress, an effective feedback mechanism and the evaluation of the effectiveness of the employee.
