Imagine that you have been hired as the human resource manager at an organization where you have previously worked or are currently working. Introduction
The current environment requires employees to be equipped with relevant skills to handle challenging and complex works in a practical, economical, and safe way (Khan et al., 2016). Therefore, there is a need for the Human resource management to develop and implement employee training and development programs within their organizations. The training and development process enables the employees to cultivate organizational and personal skills, knowledge, and talents to perform their job as per the expectations.
Steps of the new hire training process
As the human resource manager of Kappa Oils Company, I would come up with four steps to ensure effective employee training (Khan et al., 2016). First, after recruiting the right person for the job, the new employee is taken through the orientation process. The new employee is subjected to in-house training on the specific areas of the work he is to undertake. The third step involves assigning an experienced colleague or supervisor to mentor and guide the new employees through the work processes. The last step allows the employee to participate in external development and training programs organized by the organization.
The existence of a massive difference between the current level of work performance and the expected level in Kappa Oils Company calls for evaluating the employees' training needs. As a human resource manager, I would develop a training needs analysis to assess the employers' training needs. The training needs analysis will entail Organizational Analysis, Personal Analysis, Task Analysis, Performance Analysis, Training Suitability Analysis, and the cost-Benefit Analysis. This analysis will assist in the identification of the need and kind of training to offer.
After delivering the training, measuring the effectiveness is necessary to ascertain whether the training was essential (Sudhakar et al., 2017). I will use the following methods to measure the effectiveness; Administer examination certification, initiate employee survey participation, ask post-training quizzes, one-to-one discussion with the employees, and participant case studies. The results of past training will help in planning for future workshop programs.
Since everyone has a different way of learning, there comes a need to identify each employee's learning style. The different types of learners are the kinesthetic learner, the auditory learner, and the visual learner. The difference in learning methods governs the best process to be used in training.
