THE FIRST FIVE STEPS IN THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS
Step 1: Identify a Problem
Problem identification involves critical thinking skills that can distinguish between existing and forthcoming events. Problems develop when there are incongruities and divergences among the desired effects. Recognition of a problem gives the direction of the decision-making process. Without this, the process cannot proceed. The following questions shall be asked to detect a problem:
* Why is there a need for a decision?
* What are the possible outcomes for every circumstance (i.e., with a decision and without a decision)?
* What are the desired outcomes?
* What are the hindrances in achieving these outcomes?
