According to Victoria W. Miroshnik (2013), culture is the most powerful, stable and comprehensive force an organization needs to succeed in the competitive environment. There has been a strong relationship between organizational culture and variables (productivity, employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, the use of technology, innovations, and improvements). Without providing its workers with a risk-free, cultural and sustainable environment, a company can never dream of getting success for long.
Organizational culture encompasses the behavior and value that contribute to a well-versed psychological and social environment in an organization. It means the company should align its mission statement, principles, beliefs and values with what the employees and customers are looking for. It will affect the way different people interact with each other inside and outside the office and may influence how employees complete their tasks and what type of services they provide to the customers.
The Cultural Influences on Training and Development
Training and development are two integral parts of an employee’s life. The brands and companies may never be able to achieve the desired results and maintain competitive advantages if their employees are not trained well and not provided with a chance to grow. After years of research on training, development, and learning, it has been found that the success of a brand is elusive without the provision of a sustainable cultural environment. The two examples of cultural influences on training and development are PepsiCo and Coca-Cola. The culture of Coca-Cola and PepsiCo is strong enough to bring positive changes in the employees’ lives. Everyone is allowed to share his ideas, opinions, and thoughts, and talk about the quality of snack foods and beverages of the two brands.
PepsiCo’s organizational culture indicates its commitment to providing quality to the global customers. The company often takes measures and implements strategies that aim to maximize the strengths of its human resource. For example, employees are trained on a regular basis regarding how to provide the consumers with quality food and beverage products. They are encouraged to concentrate on excellence collaboratively, and the company strives to improve its workforce by providing them with plenty of chances of career development and self-grooming.
Coca-Cola, on the other hand, adjusts its organizational culture once in a while, to enable its employees to respond to changes in leadership. The company collaborates with all types of businesses and encourages the workers to give their best, and in return, they are provided with enough increments. Once the employees are trained and prepared, they become able to give their best and feel valued and respected.
The Effects of Cultural Continuity and Changes on Organizational Succession Planning
