(1) How did the leaders demonstrate flexibility and adaptability? Please provide examples.
During the mission, the leaders demonstrated both flexibility and adaptability in their roles. The central leader Urzua was able to adapt his leadership from the military style that is similar to mining operations to one where decisions were made in a democratic way (Rashid et al, 2013).
(2)How did the leaders apply aspects of the path-goal theory to this situation? Provide examples.
The leaders applied the aspects of path-goal theory which involved assessment of the situation and becoming flexible in their leadership roles. Leaders act in a participative, directive and supportive or achievement oriented styles based on the needs of the subordinates (Crosan et al, 2005). Similarly at the beginning of the rescue mission, the government should have provided proper links for the emergency officials to communicate with the trapped miners.
(5) How well did the leaders follow the situational approach to leadership? Provide examples.
In addition, the team leader subdivided the miners into three groups that were organized around their living arrangements.
