Apple Inc. is a company that deals in the manufacturing of smartphones, personal computers, computer software, and computer peripherals. The company was launched in 1775 in America, California, as Apple Computer Inc. Steven G. Wozniak came up with the company in the process of fulfilling his desire to make his computer (Ruhul& Mithun, 2020). The engineering intern combined efforts with his high school classmate Steve Jobs to start the production operation in Jobs's family garage. Jobs and Wozniak sold their Volkswagen minibus and the programmable calculator, respectively, to realize their dream. Apple Inc. became the first personal computer company to succeed in the graphical user interface. The introduction of disk controllers to the floppy disks led to faster information retrieval and storage, causing tremendous success (Lenox et al., 2017). Apple Inc. leads the Smartphone, and personal computers industry, followed closely by Samsung Electronics Co. and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Limited. Apple's ability to deliver quality and durable products gives it a competitive advantage over other industry companies.
The production of a single iPhone depends on different raw materials from other countries. According to Ruhul and Mithun (2020), the company imports raw materials from 43 countries on six continents. They also work with other companies like iFixit and Tech Insight to ensure they give the clients the best. The copper from Chile, gold from Peru, and many raw materials from different countries ensure excellent product production. The primary raw materials are aluminum, oxygen, carbon, and Iron. It also needs copper, silicon, chrome, nickel, hydrogen, tin, tungsten, gallium, and many other earth raw materials to complete the production process (Lenox et al., 2017).
Apple Inc. maintains its customers to invent excellent designs with top features of high quality. The guarantee of outstanding achievement depends on many other companies for specific services. The company relies on over 200 suppliers to procure all the assembling components (Lenox et al., 2017). The supervision of suppliers is critical for the company. To ensure the process is a success, they hire tech giants to handle its supply chain management system. Their products have to move to different countries before they get to the clients. Taiwan's company, Hon Hai Precision Industry, is their biggest supplier. The company also works with other Taiwan companies like Wistron for printing the circuit board and Pegatron for iPhone assembly. The Chinese companies also work with Apple to ensure excellent production. The Chinese companies include Goertec for manufacturing Airpod and Luxshare in China and Vietnam to produce Airpod.
