Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is known as India’s largest passenger car maker. It is also the company that is associated with having led the automobile development and revolution in the country. However, MSIL suffered a decrease in market share which is partly the result of the consumers’ demand for standard features that were previously categorized as luxury. Needless to say, the consumers are also constantly evolving making their wants and needs in an automobile different from years back. Now, the consumers want sophistication and are more conscious of the trends, that they want to make sure that the products that they will be purchasing are supportive of their lifestyles. The research problem lies in determining the effective product development and innovation required of MSIL to cater to the needs and wants of the consumers, thus resulting to an improvement in the company’s market share.
Stakeholders
The main stakeholders involved in this research study are the MSIL company, the consumers, and the community. First, the MSIL company’s directors, administrative body, and employees are considered as stakeholders of this research study as the decision-making, the process involved in the study, and the possible implementation will directly affect them. Second, the consumers and target market of MSIL. The company has a responsibility to its consumers, a major asset that influences product innovation, manufacturing process, sales, and post-sales services. The perception of the consumers regarding the company and its products is essential in determining how competitive the company is in the automobile industry. In line with this, the company aims to achieve high customer satisfaction by being able to meet the needs and expectations of the consumers. Research Objective
The objective of this study is to identify the luxury features that are a standard offering of other automobile companies to promote the development and innovation of the automobiles that are being released by MSIL to its consumers. This will be used to improve the products that will be released by MSIL, which is aimed to have all the necessary features to entice and provide what the current consumers are looking for in an automobile. The study will also provide information about the current trends and features that the competitors are offering as a strategy to improve their sales, and these may be used as data that can be compared with MSIL. As a result, the issues regarding the drop in market share will be addressed while also increasing the competitive advantage and sales of the company.
