Internet has contributed greatly to human life since its creation. With this new innovation, communication to the other side of the world has become easier between Internet users, shopping various products and transacting online has become possible, and it is also considered now as a tool for education. In addition to this, one can work remotely with the use of this technology. However, there is a downside to this rapid development. Along with its uses, negative effects has also impacted in our life. Various events have arises from internet usage that include cyberbullying, cyber suicide, internet pornography, social isolation, Internet addiction, and cyber racism to name a few (Kraut, Kiesler, Mukhopadhya, Scherlis, & Patterson, 1998).
In this modern society, both computers and the Internet are inarguably one of the most significant invention. It brought science, education, information, and entertainment to another kind of evolution resulting to easy accessibility to both information and communication. The innumerable uses of this technology have resulted for users to abuse its services or to use it for other purposes that can cause harm to other users, group of individuals, and public services. Moreover, there has been an increasing risk of fraud exploitation by Internet users who utilize technology to execute their illegal acts (Kiesler, Kraut, Cummings, Boneva, Helgeson, & Crawford, 2002).
Humans are known to be “social beings.” As a result of this, internet has been evolving from being a tool that offers information to being a platform where people can socially interact, communicate, and be in touch with each other’s lives. The creation of social network have enabled individuals to access online services wherein one can create a profile that can be viewed by other users within an entrenched net system. In addition to this, the users are able to share information with each other, interchange likes and dislikes, have a discussion about almost any thing that they desire with others in the system. Social networks offers various kinds of interactions and expand relationships to others. Moreover, the social network is widely used today referring to social media websites that enable users to share reviews, photos, and other information. The most famous and commonly used social media platforms are Facebook, Twitter, Skype, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and YouTube. These platforms served as social communities wherein users can communicate and develop connection virtually (Diomidous et al, 2016).
A social network is defined as a social structure that is created for several factors which includes individuals or group of individuals. In terms of internet usage, social medias are considered as platform that sustained social relations among its users, usually the active members of the social network who shares common interests or hobbies (Gross, Juvonen, &Gable, 2002).
