According to me, family means a lot. A family has different meanings such as by definition, friendship, and convenience. Regarding definition, family involves the people that I am related to by blood. These are the people who will always accept you back regardless of the mistakes that you have done. Family by relation consists of many members given the lineage of birth. The closest members of a family by definition are one's parents and siblings. As well, I also consider foster care and other guardians as part of the family. These people are brought together by family gatherings.
Also, based on friendship, family results in a case whereby I have friends who are always there when I need them. A larger part of an individual's life is spent away from their parents and, therefore, they need the help of other people to carry out activities that would have been done by their parents. A good example is the case of college life. A student has to be self-sufficient because their parents might not be close enough to take care of them. As a result, a person ends up creating friends. True friends help one another throughout the college life and, hence, they become a part of someone's family. It is due to this reason that a person will often have friends that they can sacrifice their crucial time to help them whenever they are in need.
