The digestion system is a series of hollow organs joined in a long, twisting tube which runs from the mouth to anus. The system is uniquely constructed to perform its specialized functions of transforming food into energy essential for survival and package the residue for waste disposal. The structural representation of digestive system can be drawn out on board. Then the tubes and playdoh can be used to represent various organs. For instance, in this essay, the plastic tubes represent the large and small intestine, while red playdoh represent liver. The plastic bottle playdoh in this essay represent stomach as green playdoh represents pancreas. Lastly, the section to represent the stomach is colored with pink crayons before placing plastic bottle.
How to use the model to explain the digestion system
The model provides a physical outlook of the gastrointestinal system. The model is better than the drawings which focus on the abstract appearance of the digestion system. The use of tubes with varying sizes to represent large and small intestine is essential in showing different characteristics of the small and large intestine. The intestine is long like and hollow like tunes to allow the passage of tube from the mouth to the anus. Critically, the plastic tubes were designed in the model to represent the intestine because of the twinning and twisting nature of plastic tubes. Metallic tubes would not give the correct appearance of the intestine and how they run within the abdomen.
