Explain two specific things that happened early on in the group’s history; use these to illustrate two early stages of Tuckman’s Model of Group Development.
The love for music has the power to bring people from all walks of life together. Music has played a major role in helping the world come together in times of trouble and hardship. Well, for me, music has led to some of the greatest relationships I have had in my life. I love jazz, and the name Miles Davis will always have me dancing or in a trance. It is this same name that got me a group of friends who, like me, love Miles Davis and would listen to jazz music every day.
This group came from a single Facebook post. One day I posted a Miles Davis update on Facebook, and a few people ended up liking and commenting on the post. I started conversing with three of the people who commented, and we agreed to meet for coffee. Well, the meeting represented the Forming Stage of Tuckman’s Model of Group Development.
Several things happened in our first meeting. One significant thing that happened is we got to know each other, including everyone’s background and interests. People told stories about their lives and when, as well as how they became jazz lovers. The other thing that happened was that we agreed to meet for coffee every fortnight. In the first meetup, we never exhausted all that we wanted to talk about. So, it was agreed that we should have regular meetups. No agendas were set, but we did not know that we had laid the foundation for a friendship to grow.
With regard to the storming stage, two of the group’s members were not good timekeepers. So, in our first few meetups, they always showed up 20 to 30 minute...
