To practice writing part of a software requirements specifications document, as would govern a project in your chosen CS career.

Instructions:

Imagine a realistic software project you might work on in in your career after college. Describe this project in your audience-purpose statement (Who are you writing to, what are their concerns, and how will you address them?) You will be writing one part of a full Software Requirements Specification (SRS) for this project.

After sketching out ideas for a scenario, take some time to read over and evaluate the SRS Templates available to you on Canvas (under Modules). The Volere template will be most useful, a 62-page template used by software developers.

Building on your knowledge from writing the cover letter, report and memo, write out one or more sections based on this template. Your total writing should be between 500 and 750 words. Depending on the section(s) you choose this may end up anywhere from 2 to 5 pages.

You may email me for approval of your choice of section if you like, though it is not required.

As you will see, there is a wide range of options available among the different sections from the template. Choose one based on your interests and plans that will be useful for you to know how to do. (If the section that interests you most is too short for the word count, you may choose more than one section to model, but be clear about this so I know what you’re doing.)

Assignment Goals (grading criteria):

  • Choose a reasonable scenario for your audience and purpose statement (APS) and describe it adequately. As always, take into account the needs and possible objections of your audience.
  • Be very clear which part(s) of the original template you have chosen to work from.
  • Consider the expectations of the document.
  • Develop a clear, reasonable, professional and positive tone.
  • Proofread your own and others' work effectively (see textbook Ch 11)
  • Write concise, active sentences that make your points clear and do not waste time or add fluff.
  • Follow the formal requirements of the SRS genre as discussed in class and in the template. 

Format here has some variability, but you should remain within the basic expectations of the genre. Not counting your prefatory paragraph, you should have a minimum of 500 words, and a maximum of 750, not including the APS.

There is a lot of love all around and people love to be treated the right way with their loved ones. However, it is always a challenge to find a cool environment where people can enjoy simple and affordable meals while having fun in privacy. The need to get a joint, restaurant, motel, or park offering such services is a challenge. The millennials who are majority users of social media and internet love to shop online for their preferred goods or services. The need to breach the gap between taste, expectations, and affordability is a daunting task for a number of people. Convenience, where people can get easy access and place orders is also a challenge. The audience of the software would thus be hotel or restaurant owners and their customers willing to install the software in their mobile/ computer devices. The motivation to establish Love Joint software was to connect hotel owners and clients who would want to treat their loved ones for birthdays, family reunions, dates, family meetings, and bonding. The goal of the project is thus to help organizations and clients tap into the gap of people trying to find joints to treat their loved ones at affordable fees and reserved space with a taste of their likes.
Scope
Love Joint is a software developed to be used within mobile devices and handsets like IPad and personal computers. The software uses GPS which will enable users to download the application in their devices. GPS would thus be able to notify the customers of potential places they are looking for, from hotels, restaurants, and bars.
