SB-607 Pupil Discipline Author Name University Name SB 607: Pupil discipline, suspension and expulsion On July 1, 2018, SB 607 was introduced to prevent children from getting suspended from their schools at an early age. Not only this but also this law prohibits pupils from being recommended for expulsion, until or unless the school principal or superintendent provides with ground reasons for doing so. Every child in the state deserves the education, and it is one of his basic rights. Sometimes the schools expel students or recommend them to suspend due to one reason or another. As part of this law, the principal himself, or the class supervisor, will have to provide with detailed reasons of why they are planning to do so. Reference Summary In their journal, Russell, Lauren, Timberly, and Laura support SB 607 stating that this bill would help children continue their education and become responsible citizens of tomorrow. As the bill would be applicable until July 1, 2028, it might provide school children with sufficient opportunities to improve themselves. For example, if a student behaves arrogantly or rudely, then instead of expelling him or recommending him for suspension, the administrator or principal should come forward and evaluate why he is doing so. Expulsion is not the right option as it can cause problems for the student, his family, and the entire society. If we will keep suspending pupils for minor mistakes, the chances are that the number of illiterate persons will...
