1 Rick was considered to be a let go because his idea threatened the security of the managers as well as those of the ideas themselves. Also, he did not inform other managers about the changes that he wanted to introduce except Val something that threatened the other managers at the thought of new changes and were only left to make assumptions. The company had a culture that all the managers except Val stuck to, fear of change and did not see the need for change. From the reinforcement theory, Rick was punished by being let go to decrease the likelihood of the same behavior occurring in the future (Blanchard & Thacker, 2013). Also, Rick will not try to introduce new changes to any organization. From the expectancy perspective, the managers did not expect any similar behavior in the future (Purvis, Zagenczyk, & McCray, 2015).
2 Rosie and Walter’s reaction to Rick’s computer is that of resistance to change. They did not see any need of new technology in the organization and were not ready to learn anything new. They were used to accomplishing their tasks without new technology. Despite the competitive nature of the market, they clang to the old ways of doing things.
