Introduction
Ethics as a discipline is gaining profound attention in academic corners as a result of its rise in relevance, particularly in the real world. The goal of the education system in this regard is to cultivate an all-rounded citizen whose actions reflect human dignity, particularly in their actions. Ethics is reminiscent of every facet of human life from their personal and professional lives. This dimension in character extends beyond the individual and is evident in their social settings and more so, in the actions that they uphold. It is in the quest to advance the role of ethics among people that the Competency Assessment of Responsible Leadership was created to offer a benchmark for the potentialities that one holds in this regard. This report consists of genuine personal opinions on ethics as a discipline and the essence of the CARL test in imparting the necessary competence among individuals.
Personal
Personally, ethics is a term that refers to what is morally right or wrong. An ethical person who understands the essence of ethics does not need to place the social notions as the benchmark for their regard. Instead, they are highly principled to articulate accurately what actions are right and avoid the wrong ones. In most circumstances, negative actions are likely to have an effect on adverse consequences to another person. I am a passionate social entrepreneur and thus, the business field was the source of my curiosity in seeking to understand why some people had very negative business practices. A great example I have experienced happens to be when a friend of mine was working in yogurt and milkshake firm. In the process of mixing the different ingredients, they noticed the presence of maggots in the inputs. When they contacted the management, they disregarded the management who claimed that the heating process would eliminate all germs. The perceived lack of attention on the gravity of this issue insinuated that the firm was up to the profits only and rarely had a deep concern for its clients. If customers knew that there were maggots were in the manufacturing process, they would cease to buy the product entirely. On another occasion, I have seen large national lumbering companies invade forests and fell trees justifying the need for paper as their agenda.
