Essay Instructions:

This activity is designed to demonstrate your ability to apply the concepts presented in Module 1 to your personal and professional life by developing your own person code of ethical communication with others.
Examine the terms, concepts, and theories presented in this learning module including the NCA Credo on Ethical Communication. Develop your own personal code of ethical communication with a list of at least ten principles. After you have developed your list, consider how you have applied or will apply these principles of ethical communication with others. This activity aligns with module outcome 2.
Writing Requirements
Write a three to four paragraph essay of at least 500 words.
Be certain to provide in-text citations.
Create a reference list for all sources you used.
Content Requirements
As you’ve learned, the NCA Credo provided a preamble for readers that introduces the premise for their code of ethical communication. Provide your own preamble for your personal code of ethics.
List your own ten principles of ethical communication.
Explain how you have applied or will apply these principles of ethical communication in your relationships with others such as family, friends, co-workers, or acquaintances. Be certain to provide examples that support your explanation. Give at least one example of how you have applied or will apply the principles in your electronic communication in personal or professional settings or social networks.
This course uses the American Psychological Association (APA) format for scholarly writing. References and citations must adhere to the proper format for all written work presented including essays, discussion postings, and essay exams. Online tips for using APA style may be found at the Excelsior Online Writing Lab. Your research should be documented by citing one or more credible sources such as the course readings and videos, scholarly articles and books, or educational websites. Wikipedia and any similar online reference sites where the content may be authored by anyone are not considered credible sources for scholarly writing.

Communication is a vital aspect of every person’s life. Without proper communication, there can never be a good understanding of many aspects of life, including the critical decisions in one’s existence. Communication is a path to express people’s emotions and personal desires of what they want to do, what needs to be done, how the task must be done, and what they should do when the previous efforts fail to achieve their goals. Since communication is a two-way process, where one is the communication while the other is a receiver, it needs specific guidelines to understand a particular idea. This is the reason why we need principles to promote honest communication CITATION Man20 \l 13321 (Mandelbaum, 2020). While there are existing principles provided by academicians and scholars, it is essential to have personal principles to guide one’s ethical communication.
The following are my ethical communication principles: 1) Maintain the integrity of the communication by being honest and truthful. Mandelbaum (2020) states that honesty helps a listener determine the correct decision or reaction. Honesty entails presenting one hundred percent factual information rather than a piece of partly factual information. Also, maintaining integrity equates to maintaining objectivity while disregarding subjectivity. For instance, in a family of four, the parents told the eldest that they got divorced because the father had an affair, while they told the youngest that their father needs to work abroad. When the youngest child found the truth, he became confused and showed turbulent behavior.; 2) Use a language suitable for your audience or listeners. Mandelbaum (2020) suggests that the speaker assess his listeners' status so that they can understand every idea that he throws. This helps the conversation become meaningful. An example of this is when the speaker talks in plain English while the listeners’ primary language is Chinese, and there are no translators. Even when some of them may understand what the speaker discusses, most of them will not comprehend any word that he says; hence, the conversation is deemed meaningless.; 3) Promote openness.
