It was with great interest that I went through your essay titled ‘Monster’s Representation in Movies’. The topic of the essay itself is very gripping and will surely intrigue the reader about the essay. Your essay suggests you have put in a whole lot of effort in researching the depiction of monsters in movies. Besides, the way you explained hidden meanings is also commendable. For example, your commentary on “Frankenstein” is insightful and offers a glimpse into your probing skills. However, when we look at the first paragraph, it seems rather vague. The reader will be unable to understand the main idea you would want to focus on in your essay. You start your essay with the mention of your own preferential choices in movies which is not needed in the essay. Remember, the more focused your first sentence is, the more powerful impact your essay will have on the reader. So, I suggest that you start your essay on point, preferably with a thesis statement that right away introduces the main point of your essay. The early you catch your reader’s attention, the better it is.
Secondly, the example you have used in your essay to explain your point about the actuality of monsters, although it seems well-researched, is primarily from one movie only; 'Frankenstein,' which is basically adapted from a classic by Mary Shelley. So, automatically the underlying theme of the novel has a powerful impact on the movie. I believe your essay will carry more weight and interest factor if you base your argument on how monsters have been depicted in movies in different periods. Even though it will get you to broader your spectrum of research, taking more time and effort, it is worth it if you can foresee the significance and credibility it can add to your analysis.
