The use of paper to keep the patient's record is a challenge in the hospital because such data is bound to get lost. As well, the records are easily available to other employees within the hospital, and therefore, this risks an easy leaking of the patient's records to third parties (Charles, Gabriel & Searcy, 2015). As well, the recording of the information or searching for the patient's records is time wasting. Nurses have to present a written report to the doctors to enable them to attend to the patients effectively. This is one of the ways through which the nurses end up with a huge workload. Hence, the use of an EHR system would eliminate such challenges.
The use of Electronic Health Records would play a substantial role in the improvement of the quality of the patient's health records. The systems used are secure, and therefore, it would be difficult for the information to be leaked to a third party (Powers, Shiffman, Melnick, Hickner & Sharifi, 2018).
