Dear Mr. Goodale,
I am writing to ask for your support in a program that will ensure that every Canadian citizen is aware about cyber security laws and data privacy. Recently, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) published the 2018 CIRA Cybersecurity Survey in a bid to establish the state of the country’s cybersecurity. It was alarming that the results indicated a significant disconnect between a majority of companies’ awareness about cybercrimes and the actions they would take to address them (Shankar, 2018). In this digital age, where businesses are increasingly reliant on computers, mobile devices, and the Internet, cyber threats are also becoming commonplace to an extent of making our digital progress worthless.
In your last message on the RCMP 2018-2019 Departmental Plan, you promised to take a step further and address cyber threats through effective detection, disruption, investigation, and apprehension of all cyber-criminal activities in the country (Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 2018).
