Chapter three talks about proposals and correspondence, which are the two common forms of business communication. The three primary lessons obtained from this week’s reading include the significance of proposals, the role of communication in developing a proper management-employee relationship, and how to improve customer service.
Without effective communication in the workplace, management cannot address difficult situations. Dirk Remley (2017) claims that managers deal with complaints from clients, customers, and other stakeholders by giving positive responses (Remley, 2017). People get a proper understanding of a particular situation if an organization appears to be in control. Based on the communication accommodation theory, it is clear that linguistic adjustment between managers and employees promotes interaction that maintains good social relations (Holmes & Stubbe, 2017). As discussed by Remley, proposals are significant since they persuade readers to accept something. Many organizations use internal memos and letters to communicate internally and externally. By doing so, they convince workers or other stakeholders to do various things that foster productivity.
