Summary Lance Twitchell is the speaker of the SILS 2015 Keynote Address and he identifies as a Native American supporting the preservation of the Tlingit language. The title of the keynote address is Haa Yoo X̱ʼatángi Haa Wsineix̱ meaning ‘Our Language Saved Us’.  Twitchell notes that his ancestors urged fellow indigenous people to preserve their language. In the past, knowledge on Tlingit language and culture has been passed down orally. In the modern times it is up to those who are alive to pass the language to the future generation. Despite past attempts to anglicize and marginalize the native languages the attendants understand the importance of revitalizing their language.
