As much as the advancement in technology has significantly improved people’s life in terms of communication, transportation, learning and other life essentials, still it has led to massive declination of people’s critical thinking skills and intellectual capacity. Notably, the most affected group are the teens since they are on the forefront of rapid adoption of technological devices. The intense immersion on tech devices has completely changed teens’ mode of communication, which has transformed from the conventional physical interaction to a cyberspace interaction. Over the years, the society has always cherished the ability to think critically beyond the ordinary to develop intellectualism. However, the society seems to value and measure literacy basing on individuals lifestyle achievement. The articles “How R Tngz Dude" and “Isn't It Time We Started Reading" by Colin Campbell and Northrope Frye respectively, highlights on how humans especially the teens are on the danger of losing control on of their intellectual and critical thinking skills. Consequently, individuals’ ability to think clearly and having outmoded interactions are constantly diminishing due to the changing mode and perception of communication, drop in desire for literacy and amplified relish for prejudices, clichés and stereotyped assumptions.
Change in the mode and perception of communication due to the introduction of technologies such as cell phones has changed the customary interaction among teens and young adults.
