A Place that is Special To Me
When people ask me, what is that one place special to me, my response usually amuses people – the library. I remember my friend wondering aloud, “Why would it be a special place to you? It’s just a place with bunch of books and boredom.” Not all people will understand a bibliophile like me. The library, for me, is a place where I can relieve myself of stress. The sight of books neatly organized on high shelves thrills me. I have this habit of flipping through the pages of a book to smell the paper and exhale in bliss. Anyone catching me in the act would probably suspect me of hiding some sort of illegal powdered drugs in between the pages. I am somehow quick to like a book for its beautiful cover or for its well-thought-out layouts, yet the saying goes to judge a book not merely by its cover.
The book cover serves not only to protect the book, but also as an invitation to venture into it for whole, new worlds. Book covers are limiting, yet the texts can take you to lots of places – from the deserts of the Arabian Nights to the White House. The texts can also introduce you to lots of people from different races, different times, and different cultures. Almost every subject of human wonder is printed on papers – from the physical universe, to natural phenomena, to the living things’ physiologies, to medicines, to ideologies, to spiritual mysteries.
