European countries colonized several countries in other parts of the world, including the US. These countries took control of the administrative and governance functions of the countries they colonized. The colonization by the European countries was organized in that they divided the countries and territories so that Britain, Spain, and Italy, among other colonizers, had specific territories they controlled. The colonization was sustained by specific economic, social, political, environmental, and physical factors. The most significant factors that sustained it are economic and social.
Economic factors concern money and wealth—every country endeavors to grow its wealth for its local and internal prosperity. The economic factor influenced and sustained colonization in two ways; hunger for land and resources in the colonized countries. The land is a valuable resource that is the base for prosperity in other economic sectors. The colonial settlements provided new and vibrant business opportunities for merchants. The people who owned settlements encouraged others to come creating a friendly environment for business. Many people from colonial countries, including Britain and Spain, were peasants and tenant farmers with small, overworked farms and often paid high rent rates. America and other colonized countries had plentiful land during the colonization period. The colonialists never considered the rights of the native people regarding land and took the land by force. Instead, they took over the land and began farming. The farming favored the colonialists as they used the natives as enslaved people working on their farms with little or no pay.
