The play is a proscenium stage and the audience they attract are mostly old people. Those who have seen the play get taken back to the 1920s of New York where they wore flapper dresses, had bob haircuts, there were a lot of prohibitions, and jazz music was popular. The storyline is about an unsuccessful British named Chrysanthemum. It is clearly old-fashioned and it is a revival of the 2002 musical version of a Julia Andrew movie that had a New York setting, but a little bit off-track.
It featured Mary Tyler Moore and Carol Channing who took the role of Miss Dorothy Brown and Muzzy van Hossmere, but it was great that Julia Andrews who became the star of the show. This new touring stage of Thoroughly Modern Millie had already won 6 Tony Awards indicates the show’s success even if Mary Tyler Moore died and had to be replaced.
Michelle Collins plays Mrs. Meers and is a convict who is weirdly pretending that she is Chinese. The only thing that I can say about Jo is that she speaks too fast and have better articulation because it is sometimes hard to understand her. Her role is Millie Dillmount who arrives in New York wearing a short dress that exemplifies modernization. It is her goal to find a wealthy man to get married to, which is a mischievous part of the plot. What makes this play funny is...
