Human growth and development need to be viewed both in stages and holistically since it is geared towards attaining the complete facets of a person and their totality. Stages for human growth and development include the fetal stage (before delivery) and postnatal stages (infancy, toddler, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood). Typically, these stages are irreversible and entail a constant increase in size and growth within psychomotor capacity. Nevertheless, certain factors impact growth and development, including genetic determinants, any stimulus, environmental issues, socioeconomic factors, nutrition, among others. Accordingly, human growth and development should be viewed as holistic since it involves psychological, cognitive, spiritual, physiological, and social domains’ improvements (Balasundaram & Avulakunta, 2021).
