Hearing the Poet
The poets I listened to are Virginia Konchan, Angela Gabrielle Fabunan, and Emily Vizzo. What I liked about the work of each of these poets is that it was personal. Poetry is a medium of expression, which is used to express human thought and experience. Unlike books, poetry cannot be fictionalized. Each of these poets makes their work their own. From listening to their poems, I could tell that they touched their individual lives.
I like classic poems with rhythm. While these poets try to put rhythm in their work, they fail to use traditional styles. The rhythm style used by each of these poets is modern. None of them presents their work in the classical style I prefer. Konchan does, however, use short lines that are commonplace in poetry.
