The purpose of the research is to acquire increased knowledge and understanding of the day-to-day ethical challenges nurses experience in care for the critically ill infant (Strandas & Fredricksen, 2015). The study question then becomes: Which aspects of everyday practice do neonatal nurses experience as ethically challenging? The purpose is to interpret the ethical experiences of nurses caring for critically ill newborns. Semi-structured qualitative in-depth interviews were applied to collect data, combined with phenomenological-hermeneutic analysis.
