H1N1 Influenza A Virus & Coronavirus
There are many events both from the past and current which cause changes external and internal changes. Two of them include the infamous H1N1 Swine Flu which is a subtype of influenza A virus and Coronavirus which is classified based on their halo-like appearance.
To compare both, Coronavirus’s symptoms include cough, easy fatigability and fever with difficulty of breathing or shortness of breath presenting as its severe symptom (CDC, 2020). Swine flu on the other hand presents with fever, chills, cough, and sore throat (MC, 2010). Origin wise, Coronavirus or CoVid-19 is said to originate from Wuhan, China back in December 2019 (SRI, 2019) whereas the Influenza A flu originated in Mexico back in 2009 (Gibbs, Armstrong & Downie, 2009). As for their mode of transmission, H1N1 is transmitted from person to person through inhalation of the virus (i.e. aerosol droplets) or touching surfaces of contaminated objects/areas (Davis, n.a.). Coronavirus has the same mode of transmission with the only difference is that CoVid-19 is believed to last in air for up to 3 hours unless the region is hot or has a tropical climate (WHO, 2020).
Current Event (Coronavirus)
Coronavirus is now known as a pandemic. It is causing not only mass hysteria among common people but is literally killing thousands of them per day which is why nations from all over the globe are resorting to ECQ, better known as Enhance Community Quarantine. Through Enhance Community Quarantine, soldiers are deployed as well as Local Government Units to ensure that their citizens are provided well during this lockdown and that they will not go out to avoid spreading the disease. Front liners such as medical technicians, pharmacists, nurses, garbage collectors/cleaners, doctors or all professions which are a daily essential are staking their lives in this outbreak and are more utilized now than ever. With the front liners getting reduced day by day, second liners were deployed and soon third liners, who have no proper training, will be which is why each government is desperate to find a solution on this cure to effectively stop the decrease in the front liners.
