I add here 3 key terms to make sure you understand when viewing the film:
Hereinafter I differentiate between short, take, scene and sequence which is very important:
- A shot: Timothy Corrigan defines and distinguished shots and scenes in the following way:
A shot is "a continuously exposed and unedited image of any length." (combine with the textbook : shot should be uncut, unedit sequences of frames, ending cut, fade, dissolve, etc…)
A scene is "a space within which a narrative action takes place; it is composed of one or more shots."
- A sequence: A series of scenes or shots unified by a shared action or motif.
- A take: in summary it is a duration of a single shot, marked by the time the camera turning on until turning off (while Shot refers to the distance between camera and subject)
- Therefore, compared to the unit, shot is smaller compared to scene or sequence.
PLEASE SEE THE DETAIL OF THE ASSIGNMENT IN THE ATTACHED FILE TO FIND 1 CLASSMATE TO RESPOND TO HER/ HIM (YOU SHOULD POST ORIGINAL POST ALSO)

Discussion Post: Devil in a Blue Dress
Mise en scene is where the visual elements work symbiotically to make up the story while cinematography combine key elements such as lighting, camera angle, depth, distance, and exposure. In the sex scene between 19:00 and 20:00, we can see the interplay between these elements to depict the mood of the film. As the partners argue, it sets the mood for the subsequent events through the movie. The argument between the couples showcases the nature of the film and the detective story that unfolds. The shots and camera angle used in the scene include close up and a dim lighting to symbolize the suspense of investigative story in the film.
