Deviant Behavior Being Accepted or Rejected Common deviant behavior in American society is mass shootings. For example, on July 3, a man in Texas Halton city practiced a mass shooting, killing two people and injuring 4. Among them were three police officers (Elamroussi, 2022). Three officers were left with non-life-threatening gun wounds while the man fatally shot himself. The police were alarmed by the gunfire and shot in the air to maintain the situation. The culprit shot himself, and other innocent victims were caught in the middle of deviant behavior. The crime happened within a diverse community, but the actions of an individual changed Halton city forever. Innocent individuals lost their lives while their families experienced unexpected losses. No one was aware of what the man was about to do. Halton city was left with fear, confusion, and hatred, wondering why such a crime should happen.
Also, on May 25, 2022, a teenage gunman, Salvador Ramos, left his vehicle and opened gunfire at Robb Elementary school, killing 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas ( Aljazeera,2022). It was meant to be a typical day with kids in school, but the residents and US at large received the shocking news. People were angered and shaken President Biden ordered the flags to be at half mask to mourn the victims. The police responded, and the perpetrator was shot to death. It was unforeseen, and people in the US and the world sympathized with the school and the parents. Thus mass shootings in Texas are common, and Texan politicians are working hard to find a solution. Anyone in Texas is allowed to own a firearm regardless of age.
