People's Perception of Crime
Most people perceive that crimes usually occur due to individualist causes such as jealousy, pride, revenge, greed, or anger. Some individuals choose to engage in crime and cautiously plan every move to either decrease or increase risk. These individuals make decisions about their actions; some people would prefer a life of crime to have a regular job. Such individuals have this viewpoint that crime results in greater rewards, excitement, and admiration. Other people experience the euphoric adrenaline rush when they efficaciously carry out a crime. At the same time, others engage in crimes on impulse out of fear or anger. Individualist desires such as materialistic gain result in property deviances such as burglaries, auto-thefts, robberies, and white-collar crimes.
Why There Are More Crime in Certain Areas
Several factors explain why certain areas experience more crimes. One of the significant factors to consider is location. Typically, an area with a massive core population means there is a substantial opportunity for people to engage in crimes. Regions located near good roads or transport links permit wrongdoers to move quickly move around. Other factors that explain why some particular areas experience more deviant cases include poverty and inequality. According to (Vogel & Ham, 2018), neighborhoods with many disadvantaged individuals have a high tendency to experience significant degrees of violent deviant cases. Several studies have even found that there is a strong correlation between poverty and high crime rates. Massive general income inequality within a community is also interlinked with high crime rates, particularly violent crimes.
