Mild and major neurocognitive disorders are characterized by cognitive impairments that sign the onset of decline from previous normal functioning. When the disorders are mild, a person may continue with the essential daily activities without inhibition, although some extra effort may be needed. Alzheimer's disease is a major cognitive disorder that occurs more frequently than any other cognitive disorder. For that reason, its etiology is known as opposed to others whose etiologies maybe not known as they vary widely and care targets behavioral manifestation.
In Iris, the movie, Iris shows different signs of deteriorating cognitive function. According to Varcarolis (2018), loss of intellectual ability is sneaky, which is true with Iris. For example, Iris keeps forgetting items that she needs to pick and put in the shopping basket during grocery shopping. It is as if her husband does not capture this change at all. Another symptom of mild Alzheimer is loss of drive and initiative, and the person has difficulty learning new things (Varcarolis, 2018). Iris starts forgetting simple things like the prime minister's name, and when asked why she cannot say it, Iris states that she knows the names of many other important people. At this point, the disease is still sneaking into Iris's life. After that, she says that she has many ideas, only that she cannot put them altogether. At that point, Kris recommends tests to diagnose Iris, to which John is reluctant, and propose that John takes Iris to a nursing home.
Moreover, while John is active in typewriting on his desk in the house, Iris struggles to write full sentences, forgets words that she wanted to write, and even spell words. She keeps on rubbing on words and does get to put her thoughts on paper. At this point, it dawns on John that something is amiss with Iris. When Iris seems not to get going with the writing, she...
