A college education can help people influence the society in various ways. This paper examines the social impact of a college education on modern society such as business involvement, civic participation, and in the promotion of social mobility.
A college education today gives students’ the opportunity to be involved in social enterprise business programs. These are initiatives meant to help students engage in projects that improve the livelihoods of people within the local community. They empower students to tackle social problems in society. By working in these programs, college graduates gain vital enterprise skills, which gives them the insight to provide local solutions to businesses. They are also able to work closely with the community and respond to their issues. Further, colleges continue to search for new ideas to help graduates learn to deal with emerging social issues. This education will help students have practical business skills and sociological know-how to grow wealth and improve livelihoods in underserved communities (Sidiropoulos, 2014). They can continue to create innovative solutions that will benefit society over the long-term.
