The purpose of using Appraisal Guidelines
Appraisal guidelines are usually geared towards assessing the quality of a given piece of research. They work towards assessing the validity and reliability of any given research work or process. Appraisal guidelines also help in sorting out or 'weeding' out the irrelevant bits of research elements, so as to remain with only the most desired or most applicable ones. To this end, appraisal guidelines play a crucial role in churning out the best possible result out of a study. They help improve data accuracy by providing the framework needed for the same. One example from the readings is the CONSORT, which stands for Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials. It is geared towards the improvement of the data and research in randomized clinical trials.
