Summary of Background
I have undertaken numerous courses and duties throughout my academic years that have equipped me with relevant skills related to the biomedical informatics field. The background knowledge I possess includes essential database management and data analysis. I also possess strong science background, which I believe is beneficial to biomedical informatics. A bachelor's graduate in biology, I have also undertaken numerous courses through Coursera, which elaborate on areas where biomedical informatics knowledge can be applied. I have also worked in laboratories, which allowed me to use different computational techniques to solve real-life problems.
Summary of Previous Research Work
I have also undertaken numerous tasks that have assisted me in learning about the research techniques in bioinformatics and how data is generated, organized, analyzed, and interpreted. Through the work, I have understood the different components that can be used to understand biological concepts and the management of databases. One of the most outstanding research works was my undergraduate project, which taught me how different statistical software are applied in analyzing biological information. While undertaking lab work, I was also able to understand the biomedical work application in real life. The work entailed the application of biological, mathematical, statistical, and computer science models to solve real-life problems. As the data from different studies is interpreted, it is analyzed and harmonized into formats that can be clinically applied.
