Acceptance of Death in the Nursing Profession

DISCUSSION
As a nurse, there is one thing I have learned to accept. Death is a reality of life. As a nurse, I have seen a lot of deaths. I started working at StartTech organization three years ago. I used to take care of children and elderly people who were brought at the hospital for treatment. During my first days at the organization, I experienced a lot of difficulties dealing with the elderly because they looked very fragile. Sometimes I experienced a lot of difficulties when handling children who were in critical conditions. I have seen these individuals every day and they have become attached. Sometimes I will get emotional anytime I interact with them. Naturally, it is easy for a nurse to develop love and affection towards the patients. So rightfully, it will hurt when we watch a patient die and accept we will never see such a person again.
As a nurse, I have come across deaths and this has become part of learning. I have learnt to cope with loss. Watching a patient die is extremely hard and painful but it is part of my job. However, as I have gained experience, I have learned to deal with death. I can manage my emotions very well. I have learned to take of care of patients during their last stages of life.
