Your response should be four (4) pages in length; refer to the "Assignment Format" page for specific format requirements.
Part A: Choose to put yourself in the role of a kindergarten, first grade, or second grade teacher. Select three (3) books of children’s literature that you have discovered and believe are high quality and age appropriate. Describe two (2) ways that each of these books might support a child’s personal and academic growth. List one (1) common core standard that each book could be used to support.

Part B: Choose three (3) picture books that promote social justice. Then, describe three (3) different situations or questions that you could then share with the children in which you give a setting and a problem and ask the children what they could or would do to help.
Part C: Select three (3) picture books that lend themselves to interpretation through music, movement, or dramatization. Then, summarize the books you chose to use. Describe two (2) music, movement, or dramatic activities that you would use to engage children in follow up activities to each book.

Book titles: How to be a Friend, Dory Fantasmagory, The World According to Humphrey
How to be a Friend
How to be a Friend has a sum of thirty-two pages, which is appropriate for a second-grade student. It features amusing dinosaur creatures that attempt to convey friendship facts. The book is supplemented with graphics that aid in reading and provide a better comprehension of the material. The book uses quirky and humorous illustrations to convey the value of friendships. It informs the readers how to deal with disputes, intimidation, exclusion, and other types of conflict during friendship cycles and while navigating individuals.
Common Core Standard: Recall stories from other cultures, such as fables and folklores, and establish the underlying message, teaching, or value.
Dory Fantasmagory
Dory Fantasmagory reminds youngsters that it's okay to have a lot of imagination and new ideas. Kids are often expected to be rigid in their reasoning, explore "beyond the box," and constantly be organized in their explanations (Routh, 2017). On the other hand, Dory encourages children to express themselves creatively, which may result in engaging tale composing and narrative periods and role-playing and poetry performances. Students are encouraged to showcase their writing or create extensive reading different ways from what they know.
Common Core Standard: Record tales or poetry in audio format; where applicable, add illustrations and other visual representations to stories or recount events to clarify concepts, and emotions.
The World According to Humphrey
The learners can quite relate with The World According to Humphrey. It teaches children to be cheerful even when circumstances at home and school spiral out of control. The novel also employs engaging language that makes reading enjoyable while teaching kids how to write utilizing uncommon phrases. Furthermore, while the teacher is not fond of Humphrey's techniques, various viewpoints are presented. Humphrey does, however, provide a unique viewpoint on how we might all enjoy the "small pleasures in life."
Common Core Standard: Recognize changes in character perspectives, such as while reading conversation loudly, by speaking in a distinct voice for every character.
Part B
Jan West Schrock’s Give a Goat
This fantastic philanthropic book allows readers to feel the thrill of contributing. Schrock offers a moving narrative of kindness to total strangers, including sharing a story in a class to assisting a family on another continent. Because my students live in a growing area, I can show them a scenario in which we have shut-ins, old and crippled individuals who cannot support themselves and whose relatives have deserted them in several of our communities. These folks rarely ask for anything other than other people's companionship. They like having guests or being transported to a venue where they may socialize with others their age. I believe this is a basic enough problem for the children to develop suggestions on how they might help.
