The quality of commercial buildings air in such structures is such a crucial factor and one that warrants mechanisms to ensure its quality is enhanced. The compromise of the indoor air quality is known to lead to certain conditions, including Coronavirus, respiratory diseases, sick building syndrome (SBS), and various HVAC-related diseases. However, the introduction of Ultraviolet Germicidal Radiation (UVGI) in HVAC systems in commercial buildings enhances air quality and thus reduces the prevalence of the conditions outlined above. The purpose or the use of a commercial building plays a crucial in determining the distribution of HVAC fittings in a building. As mundane as air quality may be, it greatly impacts output by influencing people’s attitudes and negatively impacting their health. Productivity is, thus, greatly hampered. Even though UVGI has proven to be quite a resource when it comes to disinfection, its application has been limited because of insufficient study. However, provided herein is a study that helps to demystify some of the questions about the UVGI technology. But, it is still recommended that more research be done as well as testing to help advance the use of UVGI technology control methods within HVAC systems.

The case for UV/UVC innovations in commercial buildings gives rise to a variety of just as innovative approaches to quantify and qualify UV/UVC conceptually and practically. For current purposes, an engineering approach informed by business management is adopted. This approach is implemented using cost-benefit analysis performed to select facilities using, or contemplating use of, UV/UVC applications on site to meet regulatory requirement, improve internal overall quality management and assurance practices, enhance corporate image and/or introduce innovations as part of a wider change management process. This overarching research approach informs, accordingly, ways existing research on UV/UVC is examined, potential surveys and interviews are administered and, of course, final presentation of analyses and findings. Specifically, given current emphasis on utility of UV/UVC innovations in commercial facilities from a business management perspective decision-making processes performed by executives and managers are examined in order to identify underlying rationales informing choosing certain UV/UVC applications at clear, measurable cost-benefit returns on facilities under examination.
Methodologically, current project combines quantitative and qualitative methods in order to understand underlying rationales informing decisions made at commercial facilities to choose UV/UVC exclusively and in replace of conventional sanitation and de-germination methods.
Quantitatively, data is collected using different primary and secondary sources. The primary sources include, yet may not be limited to, existing peer-reviewed and industry discussions about utility of UV/UVC in commercial buildings, particularly complex industrial

facilities requiring more sophisticated (and increasingly cost-effective) methods. To explore current state of conceptualization and practice of UV/UVC in commercial buildings, peer-reviewed articles, sourced from established journals, online databases (e.g. Google Scholar), industry publications, and government reports. The articles sourced as such are aimed to offer a solid conceptual ground for a more rigorous and informed understanding of UV/UVC applications, particularly for purposes of conducting interviews with and fielding surveys to industry executives and managers. Then, surveyed literature on UV/UVC is codified and classified into distinct analyzable clusters in order to identify patterns and understand, if and whenever possible, underlying rationales informing decisions made by executives and managers to opt for a certain UV/UVC application or, in a more innovative fashion, develop whole new UV/UVC custom solutions for existing and/or potential sanitation and de...
