Based on your past experiences and interests, why are you here?
In my perspective, gerontology is a study conducted to better comprehend the mental and physical effects of aging. Gerontology coursework and research will aid in my understanding of my own and the health of the elderly. Therefore, the study of gerontology on social issues will be advantageous to all. Since I have senior citizens in my family, I am interested in learning everything about the subject. According to our talks, growing older is a blessing, but if you have not made plans for the costs, the pleasures, and the sorrows, it can be quite taxing on the individual and their families.
In addition, I am taking this course since I know very little about how the law affects the elderly. I hope to learn more about this unique area of gerontology. I am eager to learn new information, exchange viewpoints, and engage in conversation about ways to enhance the lives of senior citizens. I am genuinely passionate about caring for older adults, and my grandparents inspire me. I am thankful that both sets of my grandparents were still living during my youth because I believe that their presence shaped the way I view older people in society. I am studying gerontology to one day run my own senior adult daycare facility. I want to be in a position to offer the best possible mental, physical, and emotional care.
What brought you to the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology to study aging?
This institution will give me a great opportunity to pursue my interests. The university's whole student body, including those from the USC Leonard Davis School, travels to different countries to study aging, giving them a better chance to get insights into how other societies approach the old. The course covers the most relevant areas of my research, including how nutrition and food culture affect longevity, how psychology changes with age, and how ancient and current nations have different funeral customs and ceremonies.
