Pollution is the introduction of harmful, impure substances into the environment. Pollution has taken centre stage in global issues, due to the environmental impacts that are starting to get felt around the world. Climate change, heralded by global warming, is indeed becoming a reality, as the biting impacts of pollution begin to take root. Nations and organizations, as well as independent individuals, have come to the realization that there is indeed a big need to put in place urgent measures that will altogether work to negate the impacts of pollution on the environment. The main types of pollution are air, water and land pollution. There are a number of measures that can be put forward as solutions to these kinds of pollution.
The best way to prevent water pollution is by cutting off the disposal of harmful untreated wastes into water sources, such as rivers, reservoirs, lakes and oceans. All solid and liquid wastes, from households and factories, need to be collected through some treatment system, before getting dumped on these water sources. Additionally, other insoluble wastes shouldn't be allowed to drain into these water sources. These include oil, metals and plastics (Jorge et.al. n.d.).This will help cut down on the pollution of water.
