The name of my child is John. The significant connection of this name to my family is that my son has been named after my dad.

The dimensions of temperament as discussed by Thorndike (2016) look at the various characteristics that babies display right from the time they are in their mother’s womb. These characteristics continue to be exhibited when a child is growing. For instance, some kids are active while others are less active. Some kids appear to have rhythm-like behavior so that their behavior is almost predictable. Some kids appear to have a greater reception for new environments compared to others. All these characters shape a child`s behavior and largely determine their character.

In terms of adaptability my child is quickly adaptable to new environments. He quickly makes new friends and easily fits among unfamiliar people. He does not get upset easily and even when he does, he easily gets over it. He has high levels and quick to take up change.
In terms of distractibility my son gets easily distracted, but is has become more attentive and focused with age. He now takes his school work seriously and does not easily lose focus. He, however gets easily distracted by television, which makes him easily lose focus.

One of the decisions that I have made in regard to my child’s temperament is in regard to his distractibility. I am continually trying to help him learn to focus without easily losing focus. Although he maintains focus on his studies, I believe he can do better if he increased his concentration. I am therefore training him gradually to learn to keep focus on what he is doing. For example, I know that television or any entertainment gadget easily distracts. In order to solve this problem, I have decided that I allow him time for entertainment. He takes time off from serious studies and assignments and just relaxes watching television and playing computer games. After that he can now study. In so doing, he will not have to be distracted because he will understand that there is time for everything including entertainment.
