1 Discussion Question: Strengths and Weaknesses of President Barrack Obama
One of the greatest strength of President Obama was his patience. Being patient made Obama enact health-care reforms despite the several setbacks he experienced (Connell, 2017). In times of crisis, President Obama remained calm and used wisdom to come up with long-lasting solutions. He handled issues patiently and never rushed out into making any decision. President Obama exhibited courage that few leaders of his time would have dared to show. By repealing DADT, Obama saved the American Army a great deal because the Army had no choice but to allow its members to engage in their sexual pleasures as they needed to. Being that the number of fired soldiers was high, the appeal was a relief to many of the soldiers because many people were practicing homosexuality and bisexuality in secret within the army. Similarly, the repeal was a relief to many men and women who were living in secrecy due to fear of stigma and social prohibition.
However, one of the greatest weakness of President Obama was an underappreciation for the worth of the executive branch. Generally, American society considered homosexuality and bisexuality to be abominable. Therefore, for a president who seemed to uphold morality to go directly against it is a show of his weakness as an individual and a poor influence on his subjects. This was another weakness of Obama. Secondly, by ordering the judiciary to implement the law as soon as it was passed was unlawful according to the American constitution. It also contradicted his stand on matters pertaining to legal procedures. President Obama learned from the mistakes of Clinton and this made him have smooth White House Operations. However, he neglected the executive branch agencies and departments. Obama was very slow when it came to the replacement of vacancies in the departments. For e...
