Week 5 Discussion Question
Review the Universal Intellectual Standards in the booklet “The Miniature Guide to Critical Thinking” (2019) and the Critical Thinking: “Why is it so hard to teach?” article. Relating the content of those two to your research on President Obama on the DADT Repeal Act and the applicability to your environment (outside of this research, course, and program) will be the focus of our discussion.

What (Reflection) (50 – 75 words) Take one area of your readings, facilitated chats, or discussion question and describe enough of the situation for your reader to understand your perspective and share your reflections of the situation. In this section, you reflect on the situation or event (what happened, who was involved, what was the outcome), and make connections to your real-world environment. You are taking more of a balcony view in seeing how yours or one person’s actions affected others.
So What (Introspection) (50 – 75 words) This is the section where you look inside yourself and objectively assess your thoughts, emotions, words and actions. What is the importance to you, to others and to your unit or department, along with the context of this class? You conjecture the “what if’s” in your thoughts and actions, putting forth how the outcome would have changed if your actions were different. Explain your reasoning.
