Below you will find two lists; one refers to Cold War period (1947-1990) examples of confrontation and one list provides examples of confrontations occurring in the Post-Cold War period (1991-Present). Each example will involve a specific strategic concern and confrontation. Review the examples below and choose one strategic concern and one confrontation from each time period to focus on in your paper. Once you have chosen your examples, review the sources noted below.

The saw the rise of the U.S. as the prevailing in the world's military and economic force since the conclusion of World War Two. The whole world came under the U.S. interest. The USSR 's defeat allowed the second superpower to determine what characteristics the world's political and ideological model ought to have. United States involvement in World War Two has led to a significant impact. The geopolitical rivals created stability after the mutually assured distraction. The inevitable part was poor military planning, which is evident in the Caribbean crisis. The world has not seen such a problematic and laden condition since the Cold War's end, with slaughter in Europe and the Middle East coming against the background of a breakdown in the discourse between significant forces (Nitoiu, 15). The world it shows up is near the precarious edge of Cold War II. Some even say that it has just started.
World War II victory over Germany forced the USSR, the U.S. and the West countries returning to the conflict between the capitalist and the socialist state political system. The current contradictions were compounded by the aspirations of politicians who wanted to consolidate their position after a bloody war, taking advantage of the poor condition of most nations (Nye Jr, 25). The repercussions of the political struggle caused irreversible losses to the world's economy from which it could not recover.
The 1958 Berlin crisis was not the first conflict between the USSR and the West. Until this, the conflict between the former allies of the anti-Hitler alliance had already risen, resulting in a blockade by Soviet troops of the western zone of occupied Berlin.
